Destiny is defined as the inevitable or necessary fate that a person is destined for; one's lot. Have you ever had those moments when you wondered why you're here, why you were born, what your very purpose is? I mean there must be more to the everyday grind, right?
We get up, go to work, come home, go to bed, a little recreation, some television, travel a bit. Days turn into weeks, weeks turn into months, and months turn into years. And we wonder where the time goes and why we sometimes don't feel accomplished, satisfied, or content.
We have this yearning that we sometimes struggle to understand, I refer to it as the "Search." We try to fill it with things. It's like a void, an empty hole within us that we just can't seem to fill. An ache, an emptiness deep within that will not let us be content. Some search out earthly ways to fill the hole, never being satisfied. Before the new wears off, we are thinking about the next purchase.
If only I had a new boat, if only I had a new house, if only I had a new wife, If only I had a new job. Our society; never satisfied, trying desperately to fill the empty, to suppress the aching, to reach contentment, to no avail. Some have no passion, no hope. I always think of Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson. They, by worldly standards, had it all; the fame, the money, the earthly possessions, the beauty. And they were hopelessly lost. They were trying desperately to fill their emptiness only to end their lives in such tragedy. And so we ask "Why"?
The hole, the empty aching, can only be filled by the One who put it there, our Heavenly Father. He designed us, created us, and placed in us a yearning for home; home with Him. He designed us for His purpose, predestined us for His service, to love, serve and share Him. Our heart's first beat came with His touch, he breathed air into our lungs.
The creation longs for the Creator. He has for us a hope, a plan, a future. Our very souls will never be satisfied until we reach that intimate relationship with our God, until we live according to His purpose for us, until we release the passions that He placed in our hearts. It's like having blinders on, stumbling through life, hit or miss, with no purpose until we open ourselves to the endless possibilities that He and only He holds for us.
Understand that you are here for a reason, created for a purpose, with specific talents given you by your Potter. You are His clay and if you will only open your life to Him, give Him the reigns, release your fears, He promises to guide you, to be with you, to never forsake you, to open His limitless opportunities up to you. Ephesians 3:20 "To Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us".
We will not find true contentment, satisfaction, or fulfillment anywhere else. Our spirit searches for our eternal home with our Heavenly Father.
His words to us, "Ask, and it will be given to you, seek, and you shall find, knock, and it will be opened to you".
So ask Him, "Dad, what do you want me to be when I grow up?" His answer will be apparent, His support undeniable, your success guaranteed. When you live God's destiny for your life, it's is an incredible journey. It is never too late to start!
