Car found in burned body case

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

A car belonging to a woman whose partially burned body was found beside a Franklin County road was found Monday in Bedford County.

The car was found near Three Forks Bridge off Haley Road, Sheriff Randall Boyce said.

Franklin County authorities took the 1995 Ford Mustang back to their county for close inspection.

The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported the Franklin County Sheriff's Office still had not released the name of the victim, but said she was 24 years old. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is helping investigate the death.

A driver called 911 early Monday to report what was thought to be a grass fire near the Awalt Bridge over Tims Ford Lake northwest of Winchester. When the motorist turned around to check on it, the still-burning body was visible.
