Suspect's iPhone leads police's way

Friday, July 6, 2012

An iPhone was used to help arrest a suspect in Franklin County after he allegedly tied a woman's hands at a North Main Street motel Wednesday morning.

David Galicia Hernandez, 25, of Ranchero Drive took the victim's iPhone as he left, police said.

Officer Gregg Loyd tracked the phone and narrowed it down to a Franklin County location. Loyd texted the phone repeatedly so Franklin County authorites could hear it, find his exact location and make the arrest.

Hernandez allegedly prevented her from leaving at least twice. One witness told police Hernandez picked the woman up off the ground and carried her back into the room.

Charges of false imprisonment, domestic assault and theft of property were filed against Hernandez, who was being held on $16,500 bond Thursday.
