Funeral services for Mr. Austin Peay Pinkston, age 89, of Pleasant Grove will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday July 11, 2012 in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Rev. Ron Dewitt officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. Mr. Pinkston passed Sunday night, July 8, 2012 at his residence after an extended illness.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
A native of Bedford County, he was the son of the late Henry Isaac Pinkston and Bettie M. Adcock Pinkston and was preceded by his siblings, Sarah Williams, Margaret Tucker, Myrt Pinkston, Lucille Philpot, Magdalene Brown and Clara Jones. He was a member of the Whiteside United Methodist Church, worked for the Bedford County Highway Department as supervisor in the Sanitation Department.
Survivors: wife of 36 years, Edith Pearl Rollins Pinkston; children, Gale (Carol) Pinkston, Michael (Lisa) Pinkston, Glen (Peggy) Pinkston, Terry (Lisa) Pinkston and Howard (Shelley) Pinkston; sister, Doreen Hollingsworth; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
