United Way of Bedford County has partnered with the Bedford County School System, Walmart, Atmos Energy, First Baptist Church in Normandy, and more than 25 other supporters for this year's Stuff the School Bus campaign.

The effort is to ensure that needy children in Bedford County have access to school supplies this school year. Residents can "stuff the bus" with donated school supplies, which are then donated to local schools in Bedford County to distribute to children in need.

A school bus will be parked at the Shelbyville Walmart, where volunteers will assist patrons who wish to donate supplies on the next Saturday, July 21 from 9 a.m. 'til 3 p.m. Volunteers will also be accepting donations at Roses and Dollar General Market from 9 a.m. 'til 1 p.m., and at Atmos Energy on Lane Parkway from 8 a.m. 'til 4 p.m.

The following businesses have also agreed to be drop-site locations through Thursday, July 26: Bedford County Chiropractic, Bell Buckle Cafe, Dollar General Stores, First Community Banks, FirstBank, Heritage Medical Center, Heritage South Credit Union, Peoples Bank, Pinnacle Financial, Regions Banks, Roses, Shelbyville Rec. Center, USBank and Wartrace Town Hall.

Other partners in the local Stuff the School Bus campaign were the Shelbyville Central National Honor Society, Musgrave Pencil, Newell Rubbermaid, National Pen, and Shelbyville Pen and Pencil.

One hundred percent of donated supplies will stay in Bedford County to serve children in need. A suggested supplies list can be obtained online at www.unitedwaybedford.org. For info, call 684-6685.
