Mr. Charlie "Bud" Flippo, age 90, of the Longview Community, died Saturday, July 14, 2012, at Marshall Medical Center in Lewisburg.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2012, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Reverend Sidney Gibson will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Pressgrove Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.
He was born January 16, 1922, in Alabama, to the late Alex and Rosa Woodall Flippo. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during World War II. He was a retired farmer.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Westbrooks Flippo, in 2009, a son, Charles Ricky Flippo, three brothers, Gene, James, and Leo Flippo, and two sisters, Bethany Jacobs and Geneva James.
He is survived by a daughter, Sandra Gibson, and her husband Sidney, of Manchester, and a son, Jimmy Flippo, and his wife Mary Ann, of Longview; a sister, Sadie Jones, of Unionville; a brother, Belton Flippo, and his wife Faye, of Shelbyville; three grandchildren, Nicki Flippo Orr, Allison Gibson, and Candice Gibson; three great-grandchildren, Devin Orr, Makenzie Orr, and Landon Orr.
Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
