Mrs. Bonnie Adams King, age 83, of Shelbyville died peacefully at her daughter's home surrounded by her family on Friday evening, July 20, 2012.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 23, 2012 in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother James "Jim" Sorrells officiating, with burial to follow in Willow Mount Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
She was born April 15, 1929 in Belfast, Tenn. to the late Claude F. and Nellie McCurdy Adams. She retired from BellSouth in 1985 after which she worked for several local banks as a switchboard receptionist. Her family often told her she was the only person they knew who got paid for what she loved to do-talk! She truly loved people and people loved her. She was affectionately known as Grannie Bonnie to everyone.
She was a graduate of Marshall County High School and attended Middle Tennessee State University. She was a member of the Flat Creek Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband George Lee King, brother Jessie Earl Adams, sisters Ruby Adams and Willie Mae Adams, and sister-in-law Ernestine Sawielski.
She is survived by her three children, George R. "Ronnie" King, (Mary Ann), Chris A. King (Tammy) and Kathy Prater (Milford); grandchildren, Leann Wooten (Jeff), Christopher King, Zachary King, Sarah King, Jennifer Simons (Michael) and Lori Thomas (Rob), and six great-grandchildren; two brother-in-laws, Ray King and Doyle King of Michigan.
Memorials may be made to Flat Creek Methodist Church Building Fund.
