Boutwell a candidate for school board seat

John Boutwell
John Boutwell has announced his candidacy as a write-in candidate for election to the 8th District seat on the Bedford County Board of Education in the Aug. 2 general election. No candidates qualified for the regular ballot.

Boutwell was born and has lived in Bedford County his entire life. He attended Southside Elementary, Elm Street Junior High and Central High School.

Work history

Boutwell worked in the pencil industry for a number of years at National Pen and Pencil on Cedar King Road -- serving in several positions including purchasing agent, plant controller, and operations manager. He also worked at Jostens in Shelbyville as the human resource manager. Boutwell now serves as the director of human resources for Teledyne in Lewisburg.

After graduating from Central High School, Boutwell completed a degree in political science at Middle Tennessee State University. During his tenure at the National Pen and Pencil he completed the accounting curriculum at Motlow College. In the last several years he completed an MBA at Middle Tennessee and a doctorate in business administration (DBA) though the University of Phoenix.

Personal life

Boutwell and his wife, Connie Morgan Boutwell, a native of Bedford County, have two children, John Amos and Everett.
