Mr. Robert D. Freeman Sr., age 70, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2012 at Heritage Medical Center.
He was a native of Bedford County and the son of the late Forest D. Freeman and Bertha Lowery Freeman. Mr. Freeman was a farmer and attended the Church of God of Prophecy in Shelbyville.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ola May Freeman; four children, Robert D. Freeman Jr. (Tammy) of Shelbyville, Bryan Freeman (Eva) of Unionville, Renee West (Gary) of Shelbyville and Della Gunn (Kelly) of Wartrace. Mr. Freeman is survived by one sister, Sarah Merlo of Shelbyville, and one brother, Paul Freeman, also of Shelbyville. He is survived by eight grandchildren, Justin Marshall, Cody Gunn, Josh Gunn, Destiny Freeman, Aliyah Freeman, Dallas Freeman and Mitchell Freeman, and two great-grandchildren, Savannah Marshall and Devin Marshall.
Along with his parents, Mr. Freeman was preceded in death by five brothers, Tom, Vernon, Roy, Bobby Eugene and Bill Freeman. He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Savannah Freeman.
Visitation with the family will be on Saturday, August 11, 2012 from 4:00 p.m.-9:00 p.m. at Gowen-Smith Chapel. Funeral services will be Sunday, August 12, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Gowen-Smith with Bro. Butch Williams and Bro, Allen Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery.
