BELL BUCKLE -- Shelbyville freshman Olivia Doak struck early and struck often against the Webb Lady Feet (1-1) defense. She banked a hat trick in Shelbyville's 6-0 victory to bounce back into the win column.

Following a tough opening to the 2012 season, the Eaglettes (1-2) bounced back following losses to Oakland and Blackman.

Better attitude

"We played some really hard teams at the first of the season. Being 0-2 with Oakland and Blackman, our girls really needed this to build some of our confidence back," said Shelbyville coach Neal Gordon.

Doak did most of the heavy lifting for the Eaglettes against the Lady Feet on Tuesday afternoon. She scored twice in the first half and once in the second to complete her hat trick performance.

Her first goal came barely eight minutes into the contest. After some back and forth play for the next several minutes, Doak finally broke through the Lady Feet defense with 11:40 left to play in the first half.

Her second goal of the game came on an assist from teammate Hayley Puckett.

Webb struggles

While Webb tried to move past midfield, the Lady Feet struggled staying onsides and were actually penalized for being offsides during several pushes.

Still, Webb was held scoreless and Shelbyville held on to a 2-0 advantage heading to the break.

Doak broke the Webb momentum barely 20 seconds into the second half.

She caught Webb goalie Stephanie Fenner off guard and slipped a third goal to the back of the net.

Doak helped orchestrate the next Shelbyville goal when she assisted Puckett to put the Eaglettes up 4-0.

More scores

Puckett struck again with just under 20 minutes to play on an unassisted goal. Lesleigh Blackburn scored the final goal for Shelbyville almost 15 minutes later for the final goal of the match.

"We hope this is a sign of things to come. We've got some hard games this weekend in the Siegel tournament. We know this group is getting better all the time," Gordon said.

Shelbyville will take part in the Siegel tournament this weekend before returning to the regular season schedule next week against Lawrence County.
