The Liberty Family and Community Education club met on Monday, Aug. 20 at Pleasant Grove UMC with President Ann Spencer leading the exercise routine and calling the meeting to order. Mary Pylant read "Summer Vacation," and Ann Spencer read, "Who's Your Daddy?" The devotion was given by Sara Kelly. Bonnye Catron gave a report on Ms. Danhof's cooking class she had attended.
The minutes and roll call were given by Janie Pickle. Eleven members answered with their favorite Olympic sport to watch. All agreed there were movements done that are impossible for the human body to accomplish.
The educational lesson, "Mix it Up" was led by Bonnye Catron and Mary Pylant, and the treasury report was made. Successful fair winnings were reported by Pylant, Dorris Turrentine and Mrs. Pimentel, whose husband had entries.
Club member demonstrations included: Sara Kelly's colorful striped, knitted scarf and doll dresses; Bonnye Catron's home made dish and laundry soap; Judy Smith's bouquet of zennias and daliahs.
Hostess Judy Smith served refreshments and the club adjourned. The next meeting will be on Monday, Sept. 17 at Pleasant Grove UMC with Betty Renegar as hostess.
The Four Corners Family and Community Education club met on Monday, Aug. 27. The club had a work session after lunch working on Christmas tree decorations. The treasurer's report was given by Louise Armstrong.
Judy Williams was hostess for a delightful salad lunch at the Fly Arts Building. President Tara Davis reminded members of the Tuesday, Sept. 11 county-wide meeting at the Extension Office and the Thursday, Sept. 13 Central Region meeting in Manchester.
Club member demonstrations included: Sylvia Pinson's collection of old greeting cards that was a family collection; Linda Matthews' needlepoint Christmas ornament and baby blanket to be donated to the Police department; Louise Armstrong's two knitted scarves; Charlene Judd's baby blanket to donate to the police department.
The next meeting will be hosted by Betty Cook on Monday, Sept. 24.
