It's not as good as a win, but it's a lot better than a loss.

Host Shelbyville Central and Tullahoma played to a 0-0 tie in a huge District 8-AAA soccer match on Thursday evening.

"This was just a very well played high school soccer match," Central coach Neal Gordon said. "I'll have to say that this was one of the most favorite games I've seen us play in the past several years."

Intense contest

From the start the intensity and effort was noticeable from both teams.

"I'm just so pleased with the effort of everyone that stepped on that field. We did everything we could to win this game but give Tullahoma credit, they played well also," Gordon said.

"We just pounded and pounded the ball late in the game but it just didn't find the back of the net. Our girls in the back deserve a lot of credit once again as well. They were rock solid."

Crowd helps

"One thing for sure, when it's us and Tullahoma, it's always going to be a hard fought game," Gordon said. "We also had a lot of young kids step it up and elevate their game. I was also very pleased with our home crowd. They made the game even more fun."

Shelbyville (3-5-1, 2-0-1 8-AAA) plays in the Franklin County Tournament this weekend, then hosts Columbia in a district match on Tuesday at 7.
