WOODBURY -- The Community Viqueens notched another shutout win on Friday night against non-district foe Cannon County. The Purple and Gold (5-1) took advantage of a 3-goal first half and coasted off the momentum to an 8-0 victory
Courtney Williams showed her prowess at forward, netting all three first half scores, two on crosses from fellow forward Kristen Brothers.
The Viqueens continued to assault the Lady Lions' goal in the second half and quickly added a fourth goal when Gabby Ramos launched one to the back of the nylon from outside the penalty area.
Kali Sitz added the next two scores, bumping the advantage to 6-0 midway through the second half.
Having assisted two of the first three goals, Kristen Brothers finally found the back of the net on a drive down the right side of the field to net the seventh Viqueen score.
Community saw one final score against Cannon County with a late goal by Mercedes Huntley. She drove the ball down the left flank and snuck a shot past the Cannon County keeper.
Senior goalkeeper Megan Sager recorded four saves. A showdown against Summit is scheduled Tuesday afternoon in Unionville.
