Viqueens sock Summit

The Community Viqueens notched another key District 11A/AA victory over Summit on Tuesday night with a 3-1 victory.

The Viqueens jumped on top with a pair of goals in the first half and added second-half insurance goal to coast to the win.

Kristen Brothers found the back of the nylon in the first half when she finished off a back and forth play in the box to put Community up 1-0.

Courtney Williams assisted Kali Sitz for the second Viqueen goal of the first half to put Community up 2-0 heading into the break.

Williams later scored on a goal when she capped off a drive down the left flank of the field to put Community up 3-0.

But midway through the second half, Summit broke through the Community defense and with a goal to avoid the shutout.

Despite the late goal, Summit couldn't complete the comeback and Community held on for the win.

Viqueen keeper Megan Sager recorded the win in goal with five saves to her credit. Community returns home on Thursday when the Viqueens step out of district play when they host Marshall County at 6 p.m.
