SPRING HILL -- With a showdown against Community set for Thursday, Cascade needed a big win against the Summit Lady Spartans on Tuesday evening. That's just what they got.
Following a sluggish first half that ended in a 1-1 tie, Cascade broke the stalemate and found the back of the nylon four more times in the second half.
Cari Brown put the Lady Champs on the board in the first half to keep Cascade in the game, but it was Tori Slater's two-goal performance in the second half that jump started the Lady Champion offense.
In addition to Slater's two goals, freshman Juli Jones and senior Courtnie Carter each added scores to lift Cascade to the win.
Senior goal keeper Kaley Clanton recorded seven saves, limiting the Lady Spartan's scoring chances.
"It was a good game. In the first half we were a little bit weak, but in the second half we were able to come together. We're looking forward to playing Community on Thursday," said Cascade coach Monica Lewis.
The showdown with the arch-rival looming, both teams will be competing with postseason implications on the line. Match time is set for 4 p.m. in Wartrace.
