It was a back and forth affair between the Westwood Rockets and the Liberty Patriots on Thursday night. Eventually, the Patriots were able to string together enough scores to book the 38-22 victory.

Luke Davidson put the Patriots on the board with the first touchdown to end the first quarter. David Trisdale set up the next Patriot score following a big run deep into Westwood territory.

On the third scoring drive of the night, Patriot quarterback showed his arm skills when he connected with Logan Landers for a 40-yard pass play. Warner ran the quarterback draw on next scoring play of the night. The Patriots went into the halftime intermission with a 24-8 advantage.

Foes stopped

Early in the third, Westwood began to gain momentum and started to drive into Liberty territory. Before the Rockets could mount much more damage on the scoreboard, Luke Davidson came up with a key interception, setting up another scoring drive by the Patriots.

Warner again went to the air and found his favorite target, Landers, on a 50-yard touchdown pass. Westwood responded by returning the ensuing kickoff for the touchdown to cut into the Patriot lead.

Not to be outdone, Liberty answered with Trisdale's 50-yard touchdown trot.

Liberty held on for the final advantage of 38-22.
