UNIONVILLE -- The Community Viqueens sent their seniors out with a bang on Tuesday night in a three-game sweep against Fayetteville.

Community took a convincing 25-6 set one win and blasted the Lady Tigers by scores of 25-9 in the final two sets to complete the sweep.

"I think that we started really well tonight. It seemed like everything was clicking," said Community coach Allison Martin.

They 'click'ed

And did the Viqueens ever click.

The visitors only scored 27 total points against the Purple and Gold through all three matches.

Senior Katie Leverette lit up the visiting Lady Tigers, accounting for 14 aces and five kills. Fellow senior Hannah Busbee came up with six aces and 12 kills to help lead the offense.

With the district tournament on the horizon, a big senior night win could be just what the doctor ordered for the Viqueens to find success in the postseason.

"We're going to have to be very consistent with our passing. If we continue to serve really well, I feel like that will be extremely beneficial for us," Martin said.

Senior stars

While the regular season comes to a close, Martin spoke on what the group of seniors have meant to the program in Unionville.

"This group of seniors are a really great group of kids. They're great kids on and off the floor and they're great leaders.

"There will be a huge gap to fill next year. Some of these seniors have been starting and playing since they were sophomores. They've had a lot of experience and led the team for many years," she said.

Official brackets will be posted early next week with the tournament beginning later next week.
