Mr. Rose, 70, died Monday at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville after an extended illness.
A native of Lawrence County, he was the son of the late Olen and Gladys Spurgeon Rose. He was a graduate of Shelbyville Central High School and attended Draughon's Business College. He was employed as a salesman with Digital Business Machines in Nashville. He enjoyed playing golf and was an avid fan of SCHS basketball as well as Middle Tennessee State University Lady Raiders and Tennessee Lady Vols. His first love, however, was cheering for and critiquing his grandchildren's sports activities.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Kay Rogers Rose; a daughter, Tina (Trevan) Townsend of Brentwood, and a son, Mike (Kristy) Rose of Franklin; two grandsons, Adam Townsend, who is currently on a three-month mission trip in Uganda, and Grey Townsend of Brentwood; and a granddaughter, Grace Rose of Franklin. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles (Bubba) Rose.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Child Development Center, Good Samaritan Association or charity of choice.
Visitation with the family will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.
