Champs hope to refocus in day 2 at states

MANCHESTER -- While the Cascade Champions didn't quite get the start they wanted in the first day of competition at the 2012 state tournament, they still have a chance to make a run in day two of competition.

The Champs finished their first day of the TSSAA state tournament with a combined team score of 342 following the first round of 18 holes.

Chad Gordon led the way for the Champs, carding a team-low 81. Bryce Clinton finished three strokes back from Gordon with an 84, after making the turn with a 39 on the front nine.

Tanner Burks finished his first day of competition with a 41 on the front nine and a 46 on the back for a final score of 87. Jake Pimental rounded out the scores for Cascade with a 90 during his first day. Lucas Dunnavant also competed in the first round for the Champions. He finished with a 98.

Cascade teed off this morning at 8 a.m. and will conclude its run in the 2012 state tournament later this afternoon.
