Got junk piling up at the house? This is the week to haul it out to the road.
Shelbyville's public works department is holding its annual fall cleanup from Monday until Thursday this week.
Public works director Mark Clanton said crews will be picking up junk -- excepting shingles and household hazardous waste -- on regular garbage days.
Hazardous waste is defined as items that have corrosive, flammable, toxic or reactive characteristics.
"Any things that are household items, refrigerators, stoves, any kind of furniture" will be picked up as routes are run for the entire day, stopping at 4:15 p.m., Clanton said.
Latex paint will also not be picked up. Large amounts of paint may be disposed of at the paint recycling/drying center at Shelbyville's transfer station on Blue Ribbon Parkway.
Those with a disability or the elderly can call 684-2644 for assistance in moving items to the curb.
