In honor of national "Make a Difference Day," The Boys & Girls Club of Bedford County is having a volunteer opportunity at its first "Make a Difference in the Club" Beautification Project on Saturday, Oct. 27 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club located at 1055 Madison Street.
The Club and its volunteers will be landscaping the front of the property by removing and hauling off excess dirt, existing mulch, grass & weeds and transplanting plants from the side area of the parking lot to the front area around the sign. They will install landscaping fabric, cover specific areas with decorative rock, and put in a flag pole and spotlight between the front sign and the road.
The funding for this project was awarded to the Club through a grant from the Bedford County Soil Conservation District, the Hillsdale Fund, and professional support and guidance from Stone Depot, 108 Anthony Ln.
Employees from Calsonic Kansei North America are volunteering their time along with members of the Bedford Co. Soil Conservation District, members, parents, staff and Advisory Board members of the Boys & Girls Club of Bedford County to make a difference for the youth in Bedford County.
This cosmetic renovation will wrap up a two-year renovation of the property donated to the Boys & Girls Club in December 2010. If you are interested in "making a difference," call the Club at (931) 735-6525.
