Mr. Artie Clyde Roberts, age 81, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012, at Lynchburg Nursing Center.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Brother Doyle Sherrill will officiate, with burial to follow in Mt. Hermon Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 PM Monday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.
He was born March 14, 1931, in Bedford County, to the late Artie Jefferson and Lou Annie George Roberts. He was a minister and owner/operator of Roberts Shoes, a Shelbyville landmark for many years. He was "A man devoted to service of the Lord."
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Roberts, son in law, Donald Ward, and two brothers, Avery Roberts and Wade Roberts.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Dorothy Gregory Roberts, of Shelbyville; three sons, Larry Roberts, and his wife Sherrie, of Christiana, David Roberts, and his wife Donna, of Oak Ridge, and Tim Roberts, and his wife Lisa, of Shelbyville; two daughters, Barbara Cootes, and her husband Doug, of Winter Haven, Florida, and Mary Ward, of Christiana; a brother, Carl Roberts, and his wife Janice, of Estill Springs; two sisters, Lois White, of Tullahoma, and Virginia Thomas, and her husband Edward, of Shelbyville; eleven grandchildren, Alex Roberts, Dustin Roberts, Derek Roberts, Jessica (Jason) Grasso, Lauren Cootes, Samantha (Eric) Barnes, Kelsey Cootes, David (Collete) Roberts, Neil (Robin) Blackburn, Daniel Roberts, and Matthew Roberts; seven great-grandchildren.
Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
