Tuesday's intracounty rivalry between the Community Middle Viqueens and the Liberty Lady Patriots came down to the wire, but in the end, an early lead proved to be enough for Liberty to pick up the 34-32 win.

Liberty put the visitors in a hole in the first quarter by out-scoring the Viqueens 10-6. The Lady Pats tacked on another 11 points in the second, but Community was able to regain some composure and close the gap to just six points at the half.

That's when the Viqueens struck.

Community was able to continue pounding away at the scoreboard, adding another eight points, while allowing just three.

This set the stage for a fourth-quarter shootout, but in the end, the early lead built by Liberty proved to be enough, despite being out-scored in the final frame, 11-10.

Alyssa Freeman led the Viqueens with 12 points, while Haley Reed added five.

Sydney Ely and Kethlin Campbell combined for 25 points for the Lady Pats. Liberty travels to Moore County on Monday, while the Viqueens host Eagleville. Both games will tip off at 6 p.m.
