The Times-Gazette has an opening in the newsroom for a features writer/news clerk. In addition to writing feature stories, this person will assist the editor in handling submitted items, photos, answering general calls and assisting people who visit the newsroom.
"The most important quality we're looking for in our candidates is someone with an extremely outgoing and winning attitude," said editor Sadie Fowler. "Of course, you must be able to write as well, and writing samples are required when applying for this job."
The person in this position will also assist in preparing the T-G's weekly Life & Leisure section.
"We place the greatest value on finding a self-motivated individual who isn't afraid to get out on the beat, develop story leads and meet new people," Fowler said. "Strong photography skills are also required, and a strong comfort level in technology and digital media is a benefit."
Candidates must be able to multi-task, handle a variety of assignments and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Candidate should be open to working some evening and Saturday shifts.
