Showing cows is the highlight of my summer and fall. We begin in the spring by selecting calves from the Bayless Dairy Farm in Ardmore. We bring them home and spend all summer taking care of them and training them to lead. It's a lot of work, but when show season starts, it's all worth it.

We show at several county fairs and the Tennessee State Fair. This year we also went to some fairs in other states, including the Indiana State Fair, the Kentucky State Fair, the Alabama National Fair, and the Georgia National Fair.

It was exciting to go to some big fairs and compete. We earned a second place in Indiana, but didn't do as well in Kentucky. These fairs were early in the show season, and our calves were not at their best. But we ended the season with our calves in great show shape.

We won the Champions contest for Brown Swiss at the Tennessee State Fair, took Junior and Grand Champion honors at the Alabama National Fair, and earned Junior and Senior Champion at the Georgia National Fair.

We ended the season at the Tennessee Dairy Expo in Murfreesboro where we received Reserve Junior Champion and Grand Champion. We had a great show season, and I can't wait to see how well we can grow our heifers over the winter.

Next spring, we'll start all over again by picking out some more young heifers to add to the ones we already have. Hopefully, we can get some more great calves that will compete well nationally.
