The Shelbyville Central Cross Country team concluded its 2012 season on a high note on Thursday afternoon at the regional meet, which was held at Sharp Springs Park.
The Eagles took seventh out of 12 AA schools in the region with Gibran Escalona leading the way.
Escalona broke his own school record for the third consecutive meet in a row.
He crossed the line 17th overall, but his time of 17:51 sets a new precedence at Shelbyville. He is also the first runner from Shelbyville to break 18 minutes for a 5k race.
The Eaglettes also had a solid showing in the region meet. As a team, the Eaglettes placed sixth with Angel Carrillo leading the team. She crossed the finish line in 15th with a 22:52 finish time.
Although losing Carillo, the Eaglettes return six freshmen runners next year. While no one reached state competition, it was still Shelbyville's best-ever year.
