Strong 4th pushes Lady Champs ahead

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

MANCHESTER -- The Westwood Lady Rockets had one goal on Monday night -- slow down Kristen Heath. The Lady Rockets weren't able to reach that goal as Heath erupted for 20 points, helping lead the Lady Champs to the six-point win over Westwood.

It was a close contest for much of the game with both squads battling back and forth. The two teams knotted at eight points apiece after one quarter of play.

Westwood managed to sneak into halftime up by just one point, 20-19.

The Lady Rockets continued to hold the advantage after the third quarter with a 27-25 lead, but once Cascade got rolling, Westwood couldn't do much at all to maintain pace with the Lady Champs.

Cascade surge

Cascade got the points when needed to close the game strong by outscoring the home team 15-7 in the final quarter of play.

Heath's 20 sparked the Lady Champs, including her 7-of-7 attempts from the line, but it was Baily Sudduth's solid 15 points that put Cascade on top for good.

Sudduth and Heath combined for eight fourth-quarter points to help seal the deal on the victory.

Cascade was efficient from the charity stripe, knocking down 10-of-15 tries.

The Lady Champs return to their home court this evening as they welcome Moore County. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
