UNIONVILLE -- Community Middle did everything it needed to do in the first half against the Eagleville Eagles on Monday night.

The Vikings were able to take advantage of a big first quarter and go into the half with a lead. Later in the game, however, the Vikings were unable to sustain the momentum and eventually fell to the Eagles 35-28.

Jackson Wisenar did everything he could to keep it the game within reach. He led all scorers with 16 points and kept it close for the Vikings to regain some composure in the second half. But while the Vikings were looking to bounce back, the Eagles hit their stride thanks to 12 second half points from Joseph Sewell.

Sewell used his size and did his damage inside the paint. With Sewell dominating the paint late, the Eagles got a total of five treys from Eric Hawks and Trent Mullins to put the game out of reach.

Wisenar put the Eagles in foul trouble early with his dribble penetration attack and spent a fair amount of time at the free throw line.

He made good on 8-of-14 tries, while the Vikes collectively made 9-of-17 attempts.

From the side

While Wisnear took the attack to the lane, Caleb Richardson provided a perimeter attack that gave the Eagles a scare through most of the game.

He scored all nine of his points beyond the arc.

Even though Community made several runs at the Eagles, the Purple and Gold couldn't find an offensive answer to Eagleville's 22 second half points.

Community looks to rebound from the loss on Thursday when the Vikes tip off against the Moore County Raiders following the Viqueens game, which will begin at 6 p.m.
