In today's economy, a steady income is a must and finding a job can be one of the most frustrating struggles you can endure.

But a familiar firm has opened up a new office here in Shelbyville that is already seeing a lot of success in getting people employed where they are needed most.

Select Staffing has only had their new location at 1731 North Main St., Suite B, open for the past month, but people were lined up to fill out applications, hoping for placement.

According to regional manager Gina Davis, their goal is to find the best qualified candidates with the firms they work with to fill a variety of positions, such as general labor, packaging, fork lift, food production, customer service, technical jobs, computer and electronics repair, and many other types of jobs.

"It depends on what the customer's needs are," she said, noting that they've been working on staffing with Newell-Rubbermaid, which is what brought them to Shelbyville.

The staffing firm has been working with Newell-Rubbermaid for some time, but they are not just limiting their customers to Shelbyville, but also working with industries in Murfreesboro, Smyrnaand La, Vergne.

Many people are willing to drive to neighboring towns to work and Select Staffing has been very successful in getting those firms hooked up with the skilled workers they need from this community.

"We've already had people working in Murfreesboro from this area before we came to town, so hopefully, we'll be able to get more jobs for more people," Davis explained.

Some of Select Staffing's clients do require a high school diploma or GED, although that's not across the board for everyone, with some firms requiring background checks or drug screenings. There could also be physical requirements for jobs that involve lifting, or previous work experiences for certain openings.

To get started, go to www.selectstaffing.com and fill out their online application, and then come to their office, where candidates are seen Monday through Friday from 9 until noon.

During that visit, they will sit down with recruiters to discuss their job history, what kind of employment they are looking for, where they are willing to drive, and the staff will match them up with the job that the best for them.
