The Viqueens banked 20 fourth-quarter points to slam the door shut on a Lady Rocket rally to hold on for the 48-35 win.
The Viqueens were able to spread the attack and put six players into the scoring column while the Lady Rockets found the bulk of their offense from the juggernaut Kursten Hawkins.
Hawkins posted a game-high 21 points, but got little offensive help from anyone else on the floor.
Community took a solid 12-6 lead after one quarter of play, and matched the Lady Rockets' six points in the second to finish the first half up 18-12.
Westwood mounted a comeback of sorts in the third, knocking down 15 points, 11 of which came from Hawkins.
The Viqueens, however, weren't about to let such a rally go unnoticed.
Community answered with 20 more points in the final frame.
Sydney Segroves' defensive play smothered the Lady Rockets and forced several turnovers. Segroves and teammate Karla Pena provided a one-two knockout punch with Segroves' defense leading to several points in transition from Pena.
The Viqueens made good on 12-of-26 tries from the free throw line throughout the game, which proved to be enough to secure the win.
Community returns to action on Friday in Chapel Hill as the Viqueens face backyard rival Forrest. Opening tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
