Mrs. Alberta Cooper Armstrong, age 84, of Shelbyville, passed away Monday, November 12, 2012, at Glen Oaks Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Thursday, November 15, 2012, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel. Dr. Kent Lewis and Brother Freland George will officiate, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be 4-8 PM Wednesday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.
She was born February 22, 1928, in Bedford County, to the late Dillard and Clarice Warren Cooper. She was retired from the Nashville Tennessean and Banner Newspapers. She was a member of Unity Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Armstrong, in 1996, a brother, Howard Cooper, and a sister, Aleta Sadler.
Survivors include four daughters, Louise Armstrong, of Shelbyville, Wilma Swicegood, and her husband Gene, of Charlotte, Tennessee, Rita Hardeman, and her husband Robert Brown, of Nashville, and Teresa Waddell of Murfreesboro; two sisters, Juanita Cook, and her husband Bud, and Wanda Hayes, and her husband Larry, all of Shelbyville; five grandchildren, Etta Brown, Rachael Hardeman, Jarrod Hardeman, Michelle Molitor, and her husband Parker, and Paul Waddell; two great-grandchildren, Phoenix Brown and Zoe Brown.
Memorials may be made to the Argie Cooper Library.
