WARTRACE -- The Cascade Champions and Lady Champions took Tuesday night's intersquad scrimmage as a chance to put players on the floor and simulate a game-type scenario to work out some final kinks before the season officially gets underway next week.

In the Black and Orange game, both squads were split in half and both teams played for a full 32 minutes, not only giving each player valuable on-court experience, but testing the waters to see what this year's team brings to the table.

Lady Champions

If Tuesday night is a sign of things to come, Cascade fans can safely bet the Lady Champs will score some points this season.

Lots of them.

While it might be hard to gauge just how the Lady Champs will be able to line up against opposing teams, the statistics from Tuesday speak for themselves.

Senior Haley Edmondson led all scorers with 27 points while Kelsey Parker added 11 more for the White team.

But it was the Black team that posted an eye-popping 71 points, with four players in double digits.

Elora Skuce posted a team-high 23 points with Haylee Simpson adding 17 more. Jessica Ervin and Heather Hart also added 15 and 10, respectively.

Even more impressive than the play inside the arc was Cascade's perimeter shot.

Both the Black and White team combined for 11 treys, with Skuce knocking down the game-high, four.

With such a deep roster of weapons to use at their disposal, the Lady Champs have a shot at making some serious noise this year.

Cascade tips off next week at Franklin County in the first regular season game of the year.

Last year, the Cascade Champions were a young team seeking an identity. Returning all but one starter from last year, Cascade got a chance to hit the hardwood on Tuesday and present the 2012 Champion team to Cascade fans.

The exhibition proved to be about as close as could be with the White team gaining the upper hand and holding on for the 53-51 win.

Much like the Lady Champs' game, Tuesday offered a chance to put the team in a game-type scenario and show fans and coaches just what the team has to offer this year.

With some new faces mixed in with returning veterans from last year, the game was thrilling from start to finish.

The Black team made it close with a balanced attack throughout the full four quarters, but it was the White team's 24-point third quarter that was enough to hold on for the win.

Bryce Clinton showed his ability to knock down the outside shot, hitting a game-high five treys. Will Holt hit three for the White team, giving the game a bit of a shootout feel to it.

Despite Tuesday's games being just a friendly intersquad exhibition, the teams are poised to do big things in the upcoming season. Stay tuned to the T-G for full team previews in the coming week.
