Police spot pot toss, arrest suspect

Sunday, November 18, 2012

A man who allegedly tossed a bag of marijuana to the ground as a police officer watched was arrested early Friday.

Officer David Dye said he saw Anthony Prato throw the bag as police arrived at a Madison Street apartment complex. Prato admitted the .97 grams of marijuana and glass pipe containing marijuana residue inside the Crown Royal bag belonged to him and was charged with possession of a schedule VI drug, possession of drug paraphernalia and public intoxication.

Danielle Foster, who police confronted based on claims Prato made, was arrested for public intoxication. She began screaming curses, tried to break glass from a patrol car window and continued the tirade at the judicial commissioner's office, where she beat her head against a wall, police said.

Foster, 20, was also charged with illegal consumption, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

More charges

A second woman has been charged for her alleged involvement in a plot to rob two men who were lured to a Shelbyville home expecting sex.

Brandy Rea'lynn Thompson, 21, of Lane Parkway is charged with criminal comspiracy to commit theft and filing a false report.

The men came to the home of Tabitha Brown last Saturday night "to have a good time," as a police report said.

Thompson allegedly acted as if she was going to interact with the men, but moments later left the room. The men became suspicious and discovered a cell phone and $80 was stolen from their clothing, officers were told.

The men confronted the women outside the home, police said; later Brown told police she was being "assaulted and harassed" by two unknown men who were there to see Thompson. Brown eventually admitted she knows the men and was part of an attempt to steal their money, officers said.

Billy Joe Colburn of Shelbyville, Robert Hopkins of Murfreesboro and Brown were charged earlier in the incident.
