A woman from Tullahoma was found dead Monday and police are treating it as a homicide.
The body of 23-year-old Kayla D. Qualls was discovered by hunters late Monday morning inside a red 2000 Ford Explorer on Spring Creek Road in Franklin County between Tullahoma and Estill Springs.
The SUV was discovered by the hunters down a tree line, off of the road and Sheriff Tim Fuller told a Nashville television station that the homicide didn't happen where the vehicle was found.
The woman from Tullahoma had two children, ages 3 and 4. She graduated from Moore County High School in 2007.
A preliminary investigation by the Franklin County Sheriff's Department indicated that Qualls died of blunt force trauma to the head. An autopsy has been ordered and detectives from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were also called to the scene.
