Cascade Middle girls win low-scoring affair

Friday, November 30, 2012

CHAPEL HILL -- Points were a rare commodity in the Cascade Middle Lady Champions' regular season finale at Forrest on Thursday night. Though they were able to muster a 15-point rally in the fourth quarter to sneak out with the 28-24 win, early on it was an all out struggle to knock down shots.

Both Cascade and Forrest struggled early, but after the Lady Rockets led the visitors 6-3 after one quarter. The Lady Champs cut the Forrest lead to one point heading into halftime.

Critical quarter

Both teams added four points apiece in the third, but it was a decisive fourth that put the game away for the Lady Champs.

Led by Kristen Heath, Cascade outscored Forrest 15-10 in the final frame.

Bailey Sudduth added seven valuable points for the Lady Champs as well. Cascade saw Delaney Vaught, Shelby Sadler, Sydney Smith, and Abi Jones contribute key points as well.

Foul shots fall

The Lady Champs helped themselves with their efforts at the line, cashing in on 8-of-15 attempts.

Cascade will make a return trip to Forrest next week in the World Tournament.
