FCE Club Reports
Unionville FCE Club met Nov. 20, at 11 a.m. for a delicious potluck Thanksgiving Dinner. After the meal, business was conducted by Jana Swan who was president for the month. One hundred percent membership (12) were present and 1 visitor, Lavada Carlton.
During devotion, everyone in the group mentioned something for which they're thankful.
New officers for 2013:
1st Pres. - Virgie Summers. The club members will alternate presiding as president throughout the year.
Minutes were read by secretary Carol Burks, treasurer. report by Martha Clark, and Sunshine report by Jana Swan.
The group agreed to send grieving families from the past year Christmas cards.
For club member demonstrations, Jana Swan had some croqueted jewelry, another necklace made from field peas by Lavada Carlton. Sandy shared her homemade pickles with the group for lunch.
The educational lesson was by Juanita Adcock on "Gluten Free."
Many people are allergic to gluten, so it's very important you check labels in grocery stores before purchasing. Gluten is a protein found highly in wheat, barley and rye, along with many other things. Too much gluten in diet can cause Celiac Disease.
The State Annual Convention in Memphis was reported on by Juantia Adcock.
The meeting was turned into a "workday" making lapel pins and Necklaces out of burned plastic drinking cups.
For the Dec. 18 meeting, members plan to go to "Sweet Aroma" for their meal at 11:30 with the meeting to follow.
