A newly-hired Walmart checkout clerk has been charged with stealing more than $2,000 from cash registers.
Several co-workers told store security personnel they saw Blake Michael Stone, 18, of Cannon Road put money into his clothing, officer Bruce Davis of the Shelbyville Police Department said.
Stone began work Nov. 14, police were told. Security video shows Stone taking money from the register six times over the next two weeks, Davis said.
"The videos on the dates of Nov. 20, 22, 23, 24, 27 and 28 show him taking money from his cash till, and in a series of different motions he places the money into his pockets with the intent to conceal the money," according to Davis.
Stone was charged Friday with theft of merchandise and released on $3,000 bond.
