CHAPEL HILL -- It just wasn't a good night for the Cascade Middle Lady Champions. Too many mistakes, miscues, and a lack of offensive production led to an uncharacteristic 32-19 defeat at the hands of the Forrest Middle Lady Rockets on Monday night in the Duck River Valley Conference World Tournament.

It started badly for the Lady Champions in the first quarter, where they were only able to muster up two points--both of which came from the free throw line.

Rally attempt

Despite being nearly shut out in the first quarter, Cascade rallied for seven in the second frame and trimmed the Forrest lead to just three points heading to the break.

But Cascade's offense continued to struggle to put points on the board, while the Lady Rockets steamed ahead and posted 20 more in the final two quarters to knock off the No. 2 seeded Lady Champions.

In all, Brynn Colvin led the Lady Rockets with 16 points, which also led all scorers.

For Cascade, the Lady Champs only put three players in the scoring column, with Kristen Heath's 12 points leading the way.

Bailey Sudduth chimed in with six while Savannah Jackson added one.
