Local business leaders attend summit

Shelbyville business leaders recently attended the Creative Community Summit held in Franklin and sponsored by the State of Tennessee.

The Summit was designed to celebrate businesses, downtowns, and agriculture. Speakers included Jon Schallert, destination business consultant, and speakers from national Main Street programs.

The summit was sponsored by State of Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Rural Services-Tennessee Main Street Program/Tennessee Downtowns

Topics included "Building a Destination Business in Any Size Community," Jon Schallert, business consultant; "Cultivating Heritage, Arts and Culture to Jump Start an Economy," Kathy LaPlante, National Main Street Center; and "Diversity with Business through Agriculture and Heritage Tourism," Norma Ramirez de Miess, National Main Street Center.
