When the dust settled, the Viqueens emerged with a 40-29 win to advance to the semifinal round.
Both teams had their heroes on the offensive side of the ball.
Kursten Hawkins led all scorers and added 21 points for the Lady Rockets while Karla Pena tallied 19 points for the winners.
While the two offensive juggernauts were virtually unstoppable, it was the teams' supporting cast that proved to be the difference in the game's outcome.
Community saw six additional players score points while the Lady Rockets only had three find points.
The Viqueens got off to a hot start with a 15-point first quarter, with nine points coming from range.
Kizzey Lane and Sydney Segroves powered the early Viqueen attack, with Lane drilling a pair of 3's, while Segroves added one.
The teams battled fairly evenly throughout the remainder of the game, but Community still was able to add a few more points in the second and third quarters to close out the game with an 11-point margin of victory.
While Community proved efficient from the floor, they struggled mightily from the free throw line, only making good on 2-of-10 tries.
In order for the Viqueens to advance with a victory on Thursday night, that number will have to improve.
With a trip to the Duck River Valley Conference Championship game on the line, Community will be back in action this evening when the Viqueens tip off in the semifinal round against the top seeded Moore County Raiderettes.
Tip off time is set for 4 p.m. in Chapel Hill.
