It was a hard-fought battle that came down to the wire in Webb's game on Friday night against Mount Juliet Christian.
In the end, though, Webb had just enough offense to pick up its first win of the season, 53-50 over the visiting Saints on Friday night.
Both teams had players post big points, but in the end, it was Webb who put a few more players in the scoring column to clinch its first win of the young season.
"It was a good win for us. We have a lot of new players and we're very excited," said Webb coach Jeff Mitchell.
It wasn't an easy feat to achieve though.
Jackson Harrell posted an eye-popping 28 points for the visitors. Zack Jones also contributed 15 points for Mt. Juliet Christian.
But Webb wasn't without its heavy hitters.
The team was paced by Branson Popp and Chase Hullett, who scored 19 and 18 points, respectively.
The Saints battled the Feet closely in the first quarter and posted a 10-9 advantage after one quarter of play.
But Webb rebounded and outscored the visitors 15-7 in the second frame to head to the half with a 24-17 lead.
Despite being outscored 33-29 in the second half, the damage in the second quarter by Webb was too much to overcome and the Feet were able to hang on for their first victory of the season.
"It was a deserved win. We played really hard and I was really proud of them," Mitchell said.
Webb doesn't get a whole lot of time to bask in Friday's victory as the Feet host a trio of games next week, beginning with Columbia Academy on Monday, followed by MTCS on Tuesday, and concluding with Riverside Christian Academy on Friday night.
