HMC brings in new lab director

Michelle Smith-Sample has joined Heritage Medical Center as its new laboratory director.

Heritage Medical Center has named Michelle Smith-Sample as the hospital's new laboratory director responsible for overseeing the hospitals laboratory, chemistry, hematology, coagulation, serology, microbiology and blood bank.

With a background that includes many years as a medical technologist, Michelle has extensive experience in laboratory and management.

Smith-Sample previously worked for Laboratory Corporation of America, in Salisbury, MD as the area manager for the Eastern Shore before accepting the Heritage position. She holds an AAS & BT in medical technology, BS in Biology/Chemistry from Delaware State University and an MSM in Management from Wilmington University and is currently working on her second Masters in Health Care Administration and is expected to complete in July, 2013.

"I am excited to be a part of Heritage Medical Center and the Shelbyville community. I look forward to many years of service to the hospital and in this community. From the day that I arrived here at Heritage, it felt like home. Everyone has been extremely warm and welcoming," she said.
