Eaglette senior Bree Horner's free throw with five seconds left to play was the difference in the game.
After falling behind 21-8 at the end of the first quarter, the Eaglettes (3-6) outscored the Lady Bulldogs 46-32 over the final three quarters.
"It wasn't a good start but we really played well in the second quarter and that was for us to still be in the game at halftime," Central coach Kevin Thomas said.
"We made some adjustments and changed our defense in the second half then we started making some perimeter shots."
Shelbyville connected on a season high eight 3-pointers.
Olivia Calvert drilled four, Hannah Calvert netted two while Bree Horner and Ashley Sutton each added a trey.
Junior Jameka Braden led the winners with 14 points with Olivia Calvert pitching in 12 and Horner 11.
Smyrna's Brianne Alexander scored a game-high 22 points while Kayla Hunt contributed 13.
"We have a young team and I said at the start that this was a team that would have to learn how to win," Thomas said.
"With the close win against Lincoln County on Tuesday night, along with this win, maybe we're starting to gain some confidence."
Shelbyville returns to action on Tuesday night in a rematch with visiting Coffee County at 6.
