Mr. Franklin Blanton, age 92, of the Rover Community of Bedford County, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in Shelbyville, TN after a brief illness. Mr. Blanton was born in Rutherford County and was a son of the late Carroll Everette and Lillie Myrtle Boyce Blanton. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Rover and was an avid golfer. Mr. Blanton was a life long farmer and was retired from Shelbyville International Harvester Tractor Company where he worked for forty two years as a mechanic. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Ellen Crick Blanton who died in November of 2000, a brother, Joe Edd Blanton and a sister, Mayme Tucker.
Mr. Blanton is survived by sons, Thomas Carroll (Jane) Blanton and Richard Lee (Helen) Blanton, both of the Rover Comm.; sister, Ruby Mai Farrar, Nashville, TN; grandchildren, Wesley Blanton, Emily Warren, Jennifer Bowyer, Jason Blanton; great grandchildren, MaKenzie Blanton, Kaitlyn, Zach and Kelsey Warren, Braden and Addison Bowyer, Peyton Blanton.
Visitation will be Friday, December 14, 2012 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Scotty Sorrells and Rev. David Wall officiating. Burial will follow in Simpson Cemetery in the Rover Community.
