Threat against Bedford schools

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

A threat against Bedford County schools, written on a Lebanon bathroom wall, was received this morning at about 10:05 a.m., just as schools were dismissing on holiday break.

The School-Age Care Program was placed under lockdown as a result of the threat.

The threat specifically mentioned a playground. Lebanon officials notified Bedford County officials this morning.

"It was a general threat written on the wall of the Pilot Truck Stop," Capt. Tony Barrett of the Bedford County Sheriff's Department said this morning. "We're treating it as a serious threat."

Parents who are concerned about the situation may pick up children from SACP but may encounter special security procedures when doing so.
