Charles Calvin 'Logan' Derting

Funeral services for Charles Calvin "Logan" Derting, age 68, of Shelbyville will be held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012 in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Josh Schwartz officiating. Burial will follow in Willow Mount Cemetery. Mr. Derting passed on suddenly Thursday Dec. 20, 2012 at Heritage Medical Center.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

A native of Bedford County, he was the son of the late Calvin Laddie Derting and Eula Mae Troupe and was preceded in death by sister, Ozella Troupe Lee and brother James Wilburn Derting.

Mr. Derting worked for 22 years at Heil-Quaker in Lewisburg before the plant shut down, and worked retail sales at Wal-Mart Supercenter in Shelbyville. He was of the Baptist faith and was an avid Lady Vols basketball fan.

Survivors: son Joesph (Wendy) Derting of Shelbyville; stepson Randy (Carol) Spray of Shelbyville; sisters, Ann Bonner and Patsy (James) Allen, all of Shelbyville; grandchildren Chance and Dylan Derting, Blake McPeak, Kara Barnes, Brandy Dunn, several nieces and nephews.

Memorial may be made to the Argie Cooper Public Library building fund.
