The Eaglettes (4-7) led 9-6 at the end of the first quarter, 20-15 at halftime and were in control 29-21 going into the fourth quarter.
That's when Hunter Lane's DeAndra Sawyer took over the game, scoring 15 of her game-high 18 points as the winners outscored the Eaglettes 21-8 in the final period.
"This is a very disappointing loss and I'm disappointed with the way we played," Central coach Kevin Thomas said. We didn't shoot the ball well as all and just gave the game away in the fourth quarter. They had a player (DeAndra Sawyer) that just refused to lose in the fourth quarter."
Missed opportunities at the free throw line didn't help as the Eaglettes only connected on 4-of-16 attempts.
"As bad as we played, we still have a chance to win the game if we hit our free throws," Thomas said. "You just can't leave that many points on the floor and expect to win the game.
Bree Horner led Shelbyville with 13 tallies while Sara Beth Martin followed with seven.
