A gathering of family and friends of Mr. Guillermo Escareno, age 71, of Shelbyville, will take place on Wednesday Dec. 26, 2012, from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Fady Al-Hagal officiating. Burial will follow at a later date in Melchor Muzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico. Mr. Esperanza passed away suddenly Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at MTMC in Murfreesboro.
A native of Colorado, Coahuila, Mexico, he was the son of the late Zacarias Escareno and Manuela Lara Escareno and was preceded in death by grandson, Maximilian Michel, siblings Ramon, Juan, Benjamin, and Simona Escareno. A retired mine operator, he loved to spend most of his time with his beloved grandchildren. An avid musician, he had played his guitar for his friends at several area restaurants like Alfonso's, La Hispana, and Aquas Calientes. He was a member of St. Williams Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ana Maria Escareno; children, Guillermo (Marianela) Escareno Jr. of Mexico, Ana Luisa (Jason Bayne) Escoreno, Nora (Talijah) Russell, all of Shelbyville, brothers Bernardo, Leandro, and Rosalio Escareno, sisters Esperanza, Pola, Berta, Olivia, and Ignasia Escareno. 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
