A Shelbyville man was charged with DUI after his vehicle struck a utility pole on Horse Mountain Road in Shelbyville and overturned late Friday afternoon.
Daniel Brown told police he had consumed seven or eight margaritas at a Shelbyville restaurant and was driving to a friend's home. A 12-pack of beer was found in the the car, police said.
Brown lost control of his car on a curve, hit the pole, overcorrected and ran into a ditch, officer Chris Vest's report said.
He was treated for minor injuries at Heritage Medical Center, according to police.
The road was closed for several hours as Shelbyville Power personnel restored electricity.
