State Sen. Jim Tracy and his family hosted a community Christmas Breakfast at the Doubletree Hotel in Murfreesboro on Saturday. Over 800 people from across the 14th District and elsewhere in the state attended and brought donations for the Toys for Tots program.
"I am overwhelmed by the amount of support today. I really wanted to host this breakfast to say thank you to the community that has treated my family and I so well over the years. Sometimes we get caught up in things and we forget to say thank you and just enjoy each other's company around the holidays," said Tracy.
Those attending the event included State Rep. Pat Marsh, State Sen. Bill Ketron, Speaker Pro Tempore Bo Watson, Sen. Steve Dickerson, Sen. Todd Gardenhire and Rep. Mike Sparks.
Toys for Tots representative Tommy Gibson said, "We are thrilled by the amount of toys donated. The Marines are on their way to pick up the boxes and make sure the children get these toys before Christmas. We want to thank Senator Tracy and his family for helping collect the toys this morning."
"The breakfast was great and the toys donated were wonderful. We may have to host this event again next year," said Tracy. "My family really enjoyed getting to see everyone today."
